The fort was built by Pescatore in 1206, who named it Nuovo (i.e. New), probably because it was one of the fortresses he built from scratch, without another preexisting. It is believed that this is the site of the ancient city Aina. The entrance to the fort was located on the south side of the hill, where there was a steep staircase.

The Municipal Gallery of Heraklion is hosted in the Basilica of Saint Mark in the center of Heraklion, just opposite the famous Lions’ fountain. The basilica was built by the Venetians in 1239, was destroyed by an earthquake in 1303 but restored immediately,
The beach Amoudi is located about 1.5km east of Chora Sfakion and 75km south of Chania, in an area with several adjacent pebbly beaches and very close to the nudists' hotel Vritomartis. It is one of the many unknown beaches around Chora Sfakion, and one of the nicest.The area, due to conglomerate rocks, is full of small pebbly beaches, such as Agios Charalambos, Filaki and Plakakia.

Το μοναστήρι της Αγίας Μονής βρίσκεται περίπου 60km νοτιοανατολικά του Ηρακλείου και 38km δυτικά της Ιεράπετρας, πολύ κοντά στο φαράγγι του Καβουσίου. Η πρόσβαση γίνεται μέσω σύντομου δρόμου που ξεκινάει από την Άνω Βιάννο και διέρχεται μέσα από ένα κατάφυτο τοπίο.
Ο Γιωργάκης σχηματίζεται κάτω από τους απόκρημνους γκρεμούς στα Φέρμα Ιεράπετρας, αλλά υπάρχει πρόσβαση από την ξηρά με σκαλοπάτια που ξεκινούν από κοντινό ξενοδοχείο. Εκτός από την ανεπανάληπτη ομορφιά, εντύπωση προκαλεί ο καταρράκτης ύψους 10 μέτρων που καταλήγει στην παραλία.
