Vougiou Mati lies on the southern coast of Chrissi Island and was once the main landing point for excursion boats arriving from Ierapetra. West of the quay is a small rocky bay with low sea caves that offer quiet and secluded spots. To the east lies a long beach with a rocky seabed, which visitors often prefer when the northern coast and the island’s main beach, Belegrina or Golden Beach, are affected by waves.

Skotini Canyon (Dark Gorge) is located at a rugged region of Mirabello province, near the village Finokalia. Walking is easy and hiking in the canyon can be combined with a bath at the beach formed at the exit of the gorge. From there, the trail runs along the rocky shores to the monastery of St. Andrew.

Το φρούριο του Αγίου Νικολάου Κυριακοσελλίων, βρίσκεται στον οικισμό Κυριακοσελλίων της επαρχίας Αποκόρωνα. Είναι Βυζαντινό φρούριο που κτίστηκε από τον φεουδάρχη της περιοχής, για να εξασφαλίσει τα προνόμια του.

Από το 2013 διοργανώνεται η φυσιολατρική διαδρομή Λειβαδούρια στον Αποκόρωνα Χανίων. Η όμορφη αυτή διαδρομή περνά από τα χωριά Τσιβαράς, Άγιος Παύλος, Ντουλιανά και Γαβαλοχώρι και σε όλο το μήκος της κινείται σε μια περιοχή φυσικού κάλλους.

Στο μέσο περίπου των νοτιοανατολικών ακτών του Κουφονησίου και σε ύψος 75 μέτρων βρέθηκε ένας Ρωμαϊκός ναός ο οποίος δυστυχώς έχει υποστεί εξοντωτική λεηλασία από τη λατόμευσή του (το 1920) για να κατασκευασθεί ο τεράστιος φάρος σε απόσταση λίγων μέτρων.

The Museum of Ancient Eleftherna is the first museum inside and archaeological site in Crete, as it is located next to the ancient city of Eleftherna. The three halls of the museum host the whole history of Eleftherna from 3000 BC city to 1300 AD with everyday objects and artworks.

High above the village Frati in South Rethymnon and north of the settlement we meet the Fratiani Kefala hill. This is a very steep hill with cliffs at most of its sides, which has very good views to the surrounding area and was used as a shelter in tough historical times. Kefala was chosen as a place for settling the Minoans during the dark era that followed the Minoan disaster, i.e. between 1200-800BC.
