Крепость Кулес, замечательная своей архитектурой, тесно связана с историей региона и занимает большое место в воспоминаниях местных жителей. Крепость состоит из большого внутреннего двора, закрытого с западной стороны двумя зданиями, соединенными между собой арками. Крыша сделана в форме купола.

Strouboulas is the first peak that one can see from Heraklion when looking to the west. The height of the tops is 798 meters above sea level, a small altitude compared to the surrounding mountains and the range of Psiloritis it actually belongs. What makes Strouboulas special and beloved by the locals is its shape reminiscent of the pyramid or volcano when looking from Heraklion. In fact, however, its shape is elongated from east to west but from the city it looks like a perfect pyramid.

16km south of Rethymno, near the settlement of Monopari in Varsamonero, there is a steep and isolated hill, encircled by the local torrent. The hill is called Kastellos and, atop of it, the Genoese pirate Henry Pescatore founded one of the 15 forts built by the Genoese all over Crete in 1206. The fort was named Bonriparo (meaning strong fort), after which the village Monopari is named.

Η βελανιδιά του Μανταλένη ή Μαναλενίου βρίσκεται κοντά στο χωριό Κορφές, αν ακολουθήσουμε το χωματόδρομο που ξεκινάει περίπου 50m βορειοανατολικά της κεντρικής πλατείας. Παρόλο που είναι πολύ εύκολο να το εντοπίσει κάποιος, δεν υπάρχει ούτε μια πινακίδα που να οδηγεί προς το δέντρο.

Βορειοανατολικά του χωριού Μοναστηράκι, στη θέση Κόκκινος Χάρακας, έχουν εντοπιστεί ανακτορικά κτίρια μινωικής εποχής από ανασκαφές που ξεκίνησαν το 1980. Το ανάκτορο υπολογίζεται ότι έχει έκταση περίπου 300 στρέμματα και έχει αποκαλυφθεί ο πυρήνας του.

Το μουσείο βρίσκεται στο Μετόχι (Σγουδιανά) κοντά στον Κόρφο της Γαύδου. Ιδρυτής και ιδιοκτήτης του είναι ο ιερέας Εμμανουήλ Μπικογιαννάκης ο οποίος με μεράκι έχει μαζέψει και εκθέτει όλα εκείνα τα είδη λαϊκής Γαυγιώτικης τέχνης, τα οποία αφορούσαν την κάθε είδους απασχόληση: του γεωργού.

The plateau of Evdomos is located 3km southeast of the village Gonies, at an altitude of 780m. The plateau is actually divided into two smaller plateaus, the Kato Lakos and Ano Lakos plateaus. Nowadays Evdomos plateau is mainly used for stockbreeding. The name Evdomos is believed to come from the Greek word Evosmos, that means sweet-smelling as it used to be full of flowers in spring time.

The monastery of Saints Peter and Paul is located at the settlement of Gallos, near the University of Crete. The restored monastery, for which there is no surviving information about its history, is a dependency of the Monastery of Arkadi.
