Ένα περίπου χιλιόμετρο νοτιοανατολικά του χωριού Σκαλάνι Ηρακλείου στην περιοχή που φέρει το τοπωνύμιο Αποσάμι βρίσκεται ότι σήμερα σώζεται από το μεσαιωνικό μοναστήρι του Αγίου Μηνά.

Στο μέσο του οικισμού του Λουτρού είναι κτισμένος ο όμορφος και ευρύχωρος ναός της Παναγίας του Λουτρού αφιερωμένος στην Ζωοδόχο Πηγή που έχει σπουδαία ιστορική σημασία. Το προαύλιο έχει ένα μεγάλο φοινικόδεντρο του Θεόφραστου (της Κρητικής ποικιλίας δηλαδή) και ένα πηγάδι με νερό.
