Ανάμεσα στα θερμοκήπια του Φραγκοκάστελου συναντάμε το εγκαταλελειμμένο σήμερα μονύδριο του Αγίου Χαραλάμπους με τη λαμπρή όμως ιστορία. Λέγεται ότι στο χώρο της μονής εγκαταστάθηκαν το 1821 οι μοναχοί Γρηγόριος και Μαγδαληνή, αν και πιστεύεται ότι η μονή ήταν πολύ παλαιότερη.
Just above the reservoir of the dam Potami still dominates the ruined Koules (Turkish Tower) of Potami, built in the period 1866 to 1869. It has been declared a protected monument, because it is an important sample of castle architecture and is inextricably linked to the history and memories of the area during the Ottoman occupation of Crete in the 19th century.
Η απομονωμένη κι έρημη μονή του Αγίου Γεωργίου Άσσαρη είναι μετόχι της μονής Φανερωμένης. Γύρω υπάρχουν ίχνη από τα κελιά και τα βοηθητικά κτίσματα της μονής που λειτούργησε κατά την Ενετοκρατία.
Saint Kirikos or Kirkos is located at the archaeological site of Lissos, on the site of a former Early Christian Basilica and gives its name to the entire valley of Lissos. The vaulted church has Byzantine frescoes, unfortunately damaged.
Near Diavaide there is the church of St. George Sfakiotis, bearing frescoes of the 14th century (there is an inscription of 1390). One of the frescoes represents St. George and St. Demetrius on horseback crossing the sea with octopuses, crabs, eels, and lobsters below their legs.

One of the most impressive spring plants of Crete is Aristolocheia (Aristolochia cretica). It is a perennial plant that creeps on the ground and has flowers that are truly impressive and have a shape resembling a saxophone or boot. This plant is typically found on dry rocky soils of Crete and Carpathos. In Crete it is found all over the island, but especially in Lassithi prefecture (east Crete).
Το χωριό έρημο Κάτω Βρύσες ήτανε σαν να με περίμενε από καιρό. Έτσι και στις Κάτω Βρύσσες την πιο καλά κρυμμένη γειτονιά της περιοχής. Πολλά σπίτια πρέπει να είχε κάποτε. Πολλές ψυχές, πολλές φωνές, πολλές αγωνίες αυτός ο τόπος που σήμερα αναπαύεται όπως και τόσοι άλλοι στην ορεινή Κρήτη στην αιώνια λησμονιά.
