Skouros beach
(6 votes)

Kastri is located 72km southeast of Heraklion, in the sheltered bay of Keratokambos. West of the main beach of Kastri, just beside the church of Saint Myronas, there is the longer beach of Skouros. It is a beautiful beach with sand and pebbles, which is not too busy. Along the beach there is a line of tamarisk trees, where you can find shade. Moreover, wonderful rock formations in and out of the sea break the monotony of the shore. Especially, in the west part, there is a large rock with dark colors called Skouros (= dark), which gives its name to the beach. It is a good choice for free camping and staying remote.

West of Skouros rock you can visit the most remote beaches of the area, starting from the position Xerokambi and reaching the east end of the rock of Listis. These beaches are accessed through dirt roads leading to nearby green houses.
