At position Pirgos of the village Gerani and within the boundaries of private property we meet the remains of the initally four-storey tower of Gerani. The small tower is believed to have functioned as a Medieval phrycotry to send messages by fire to other towers of the province of Rethymnon during the Venetian rule. Today only the first floor is preserved from the tower, as the two highest floors have collapsed.
One of the highlights of ancient Ierapetra was the Naumachia (naval battle), a maritime theater where bloody battles were performed by prisoners and slaves of the Roman Empire. This was the transfer of arenas to the marine environment. The Naumachia was inspired by Julius Caesar in 46 BC.
Το Σπήλαιο των Μαρήδων βρίσκεται περίπου 300μ ανατολικά του χωριού Αδριανού και στην είσοδό του οδηγεί σύντομο μονοπάτι. Είναι μικρό σπήλαιο μήκους μόλις 20μ, με σχετικά μεγάλη είσοδο (ύψος 5μ και πλάτος 4μ). Στα πρώτα μέτρα της αίθουσας, το πλάτος είναι 4μ.
Koutsotroulis or Koutsotroulos is the highest peak of the Talean Mountains reaching an altitude of 1084m. Access to the top is possible via a dirt road that starts approximately at the middle of the road connecting the village Doxaro with the Monastery Vossako. This dirt road serves the wind park that is installed at the top of Koutsoroulis.
Στο κοιμητήριο του χωριού Παντάνασσα της επαρχίας Αμαρίου συναντάμε τον εντυπωσιακό δίκλιτο ναό που είναι αφιερωμένος στον Άγιο Ιωάννη τον Πρόδρομο και στην Αγία Τριάδα. Ο ναός κτίστηκε το 1645 και κτήτοράς του ήταν το Μανώλης Βλαστός. Εντύπωση προκαλούν οι θύρες με τα γοτθικά στοιχεία, ενώ στο εσωτερικό του σώζεται θολωτός τάφος που χρονολογείται στο 1594.
On the path leading from Houdetsi to the Sinai monastery of Panagia Spiliotissa, we meet the very old church dedicated Saint Nicholas (Agios Nikolaos). It is the only temple of Houdetsi enlisted by Gerola in the catalogue of the 845 decorated churches in Crete. The church was originally a single-nave barrel-vaulted church, later expanded by acquiring additional elongated shape. It's interior bears some traces of frescoes dating back from by the Venetian era.
Ο ναός της Παναγίας στο Χουμέρι Μονοφατσίου είναι αφιερωμένος στα Εισόδια της Θεοτόκου και έχει υποστεί αναστήλωση, κατά την οποία χάθηκε μέρος του τοιχογραφικού διακόσμου του 15ου αιώνα. Συγκεκριμένα, ο αρχικός μονόχωρος ναός επεκτάθηκε προς τα δυτικά με την προσθήκη στα νότια ενός κλίτους.
Στην τοποθεσία Πύργος του χωριού Γεράνι και μέσα στα όρια ιδιωτικής περιουσίας βρίσκεται ότι απομένει σήμερα από τον τετραώροφο Πύργο του Γερανίου. Ο μικρός πύργος πιστεύεται ότι λειτούργησε σαν μια Μεσαιωνική φρυκτωρία, για να μεταφέρονται μηνύματα με φωτιά σε άλλους πύργους της επαρχίας Ρεθύμνου.
