Το σχεδόν έρημο σήμερα χωριουδάκι της Παναγίας της επαρχίας Καινουργίου πήρε το όνομά του από το τρίκλιτο Βυζαντινό ναό της Παναγίας, που είναι αφιερωμένος στην Κοίμηση της Θεοτόκου. Πιστεύεται ότι ο ναός αρχικά, κατά τον 15ο αιώνα, υπήρξε το κέντρο ενός θρησκευτικού συγκροτήματος, το οποίο στο πέρασμα του χρόνου μετεξελίχθηκε στον οικισμό της Παναγιάς.
At Rodopou Peninsula and not too far from the village Rodopos, we meet the plateau of Agios Nikolaos. Agios Nikolaos is one of the largest plateaus of the peninsula, smaller than that of Gionas, which in the past was cultivated. Egglezos Cave or Cave of the Guerillas is located in an isolated area of the cypress wood of Tsivi, at position Asfendami. In this small cave, during the Second World War, British soldiers and local allies were hiding.
The small single-nave arched temple of Mary of Egypt is located in the Samaria deserted settlement, inside the imposing gorge of Samaria, accessed by a short path. According to one option, the name of the Samaria Canyon derives from the corruption of the name of Osia Maria (Saint Mary). The church celebrates on April 1st, when several mountaineering clubs of Crete participate in the festival.
Πάνω στο δρόμο που ενώνει τη Γαλίφα με την Επισκοπή Πεδιάδος συναντάμε τον μικρό μονόχωρο καμαροσκέπαστο ναό που είναι αφιερωμένος στη Μεταμόρφωση του Σωτήρος. Ο ναός χρονολογείται στον 14ο αιώνα και εσωτερικά φέρει τοιχογραφίες σε κακή κατάσταση.
The church of Panagia Sourouthiani or Sirothiani is located in the outskirts of the village Alikambos in the province of Apokoronas, very close to a spring with fresh water. It is a small single-nave church dedicated to the Dormition of Theotokos (celebr. of August 15th) which is externally decorated with round ceramics called pinakia.
Ο ναός του Αγίου Ιωάννη του Θεολόγου βρίσκεται στον ερειπωμένο οικισμό Λάκκοι, στην περιφέρεια του χωριού Κρούστας. Ο ναός έχει κτιστεί στη θέση προϋπάρχοντος κτίσματος, ενώ κοντά υπάρχουν ίχνη κτιρίων από τον οικισμό των Λάκκων, δύο αλώνια και μια δεξαμενή νερού.
