The place is known as Maheridia and is one of the favorite beaches of locals, which is quite unknown to everybody else. The beaches are not visible from the main road running next to them, thus you have to walk till you meet them. They are surrounded by vertical cliffs, however there are some primitive trails to the beach.
In the village square of Krasi, near Malia, there are three plane trees, the trademarks of the village. The most important of them is the platan in the center of the square, which is considered to be the oldest and most majestic of the plane trees in Crete.
The quite new lake has a capacity of 23 million cubic meters and is expected to become one of the most important wetlands in the southeast Mediterranean. Already, many species of birds and animals have appeared in the area. Visitors of the wider area visit the dam and admire the beautiful scenery.
Το δάσος της Κέρης βρίσκεται σε υψόμετρο 300μ., 9 χλμ δυτικά του Ηρακλείου, πολύ κοντά στο Βουλισμένο Αλώνι και νότια του φαραγγιού του Αλμυρού. Η πρόσβαση γίνεται από σύντομο χωματόδρομο που ξεκινάει περίπου 300μ. μετά από το Βουλισμένο Αλώνι.
Πρόκειται για ξεχωριστούς λόφους που αποτελούνται από μαλακό άργιλο στον οποίο με την πάροδο του χρόνου η διάβρωση έχει δώσει αυτές τις υπέροχες κωνικές μορφές. Το τοπίο θυμίζει Καππαδοκία και παρόμοιό του συναντάμε μόνο στο Κουφονήσι Σητείας και στη περιοχή του Άσπρουλα.
Η Παχειά Άμμος βρίσκεται 20 χλμ ανατολικά του Αγίου Νικολάου, στο δρόμο που συνδέει τον Άγιο Νικόλαο με τη Σητεία και την Ιεράπετρα. Είναι ένα μεγάλο παραθαλάσσιο χωριό, που είναι κτισμένο στην βόρεια πλευρά του στενότερου τμήματος της Κρήτης, στην έξοδο μιας εύφορης πεδιάδας με ελαιώνες. Η παραλία αλλά και τα αξιοθέατα της τριγύρω περιοχής, έχουν βοηθήσει στην τουριστική ανάπτυξη του χωριού. Εκεί θα βρείτε μικρά ξενοδοχεία, δωμάτια και ταβέρνες.
Kalogeros is a perfect beach with deep blue water and fine pebbles, located 57km south of Chania, 11km east of Sougia and 1km west of Agia Roumeli. The beach is located close to the west end of Agia Roumeli.
500m north of the legendary Mirabelo hotel you will find the tranquil beach of Havani, where a well organized municipal beach operates. In Havania there are options for accommodation and food. On the beach you will find a lifeguard and water sports. According to reports, during the years of Ottoman rule there was a small port and its remnants are still visible in the sea.
