The current deserted monastery of St Savas is located at a degraded location of Heraklion (next to the industries of cement and fuel at Ellinoperamata). The monastery was founded in the 10th century by Nicephorus Phocas.

The striped dolphin (scient. Stenella coeruleoalba) is the most common species of dolphin in Greek waters. It is usully found far from the coasts, in the open Aegean and Ionian Sea, south of Crete or close to the coasts if the water is very deep. It lives in flocks of 50-100 individuals, and often coexists with other dolphins, such as the Common dolphin and Risso’s dolphin.

Το ζωνοδέλφινο (επιστ. Stenella coeruleoalba) αποτελεί το πιο κοινό είδος δελφινιού των ελληνικών θαλασσών. Παρατηρείται συνήθως μακριά από τις ακτές στο ανοιχτό Αιγαίο και το Ιόνιο, νότια από την Κρήτη αλλά και κοντά σε αυτές όταν τα νερά είναι πολύ βαθιά. Ζει σε κοπάδια 50-100 ατόμων και συχνά παρατηρείται μαζί με άλλα δελφίνια όπως το Κοινό δελφίνι και το Σταχτοδέλφινο.

В 2011 году все женщины интенсивно работали вместе на первом етаже клуба, который был в состоянии ремонта, чтобы быть полезным для них и кеамнем для села. Они создали народны музей Спили собрали артифакткы, старые инструменты и текстиль.

The Folklore Museum of the picturesque village Somatas was founded in 1971 by Evangelos Hadjispyrou. The exhibits include traditional agricultural tools, traditional home furnishing, but also weapons and military equipment from the German Occupation.

Η ελιά αυτή βρίσκεται στο δρόμο για Πισκοκέφαλο από τη Σητεία κι έχει ανακηρυχτεί ως μνημειακή από το Σύνδεσμο Ελαιοκομικών Δήμων Κρήτης εξ αιτίας της ιστορικής της σημασίας. Το όνομα της το παίρνει από το ρήμα φουρκίζω, που σημαίνει πνίγω με κρέμασμα, επειδή εδώ κρεμούσαν οι Τούρκοι τους Χριστιανούς. Σήμερα η ελιά έχει υποστεί ζημιά από αυτοκίνητο που συγκρούστηκε πάνω της.

The church of St. George at Finokalis was the temple of a nunnery founded in the 14th century, which seized its operation in the 1980s. Impressive is the slope of the walls of the temple, which would have collapsed by a landslide if not supported. The church bears valuable frescoes of the 14th century.
