The Venetian church of Agios Dimitrios is located Kastri settlement and was the main church of the homonymous monastery. Today the cells and the other buildings of the monastery are deserted. The church is single-nave, vaulted and two entrances (south and west). The name Galaktoktistos means built with milk and is taken after the legend according to which the church was built with milk offered by the local shepherds.

Ο ναός του Αγίου Ιωάννη Θεολόγου και Αγίου Νικολάου είναι κτισμένος στην είσοδο του χωριού Στύλος. Πρόκειται για ένα συγκρότημα από τρία κτίσματα, που χρονολογούνται από το 13ο-15ο αιώνα και διασώζουν αποσπασματικά τοιχογραφικό διάκοσμο του 13ου, 14ου και 15ου αιώνα.

The white sage-leaved rock-rose (Cistus salvifolius) is one of the most beautiful white flowers of Crete. It is met in all counties of the island at medium altitudes up to almost 900 meters and always in phyllitic acidic grounds. It is not as well known as its related purple cousin (Cistus creticus) because it does not produce the famous laudanum.

Ανάμεσα στην παραλία Καλόγερος και το λιμανάκι της Μασχάλης (στα δυτικά της Αγίας Ρουμέλης) σχηματίζονται μερικές απόκρυφες παραλίτσες μέσα σε σπηλιές που οι ντόπιοι ονομάζουν Σπηλιές στο Μάρμαρο. Οι σπηλιές σχηματίζονται στον υπόλευκο σκληρό βράχο της περιοχής και αποτελούν μοναδική καβάτζα για όσους τις προλάβουν.

Ο Άγιος Κήρυκος ή Άη Κήρκος (Κύρκος) βρίσκεται στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο της Λισσού. Είναι μικρός μονόχωρος ναός που έχει κτιστεί στη θέση Παλαιοχριστιανικής Βασιλικής, όπως και ο κοντινός ναός της Παναγιάς, και δίνει το όνομα του σε όλη την κοιλάδα. Είναι καμαροσκέπαστος Βυζαντινός ναός με μισοκατεστραμμένες τοιχογραφίες, από τις οποίες έχουν διασωθεί οι χρονολογίες 1436, 1437 και 1439.

Η μονή της Παναγίας Ντελιγαρά, Λυγαριάς ή Λυγαριώτισσας λειτουργούσε στο σημείο που βρίσκεται σήμερα η εκκλησία της Παναγίας στην παραλία της Λυγαριάς, που πήρε το όνομα της από το φυτό λυγαριά που πράγματι αφθονεί στην περιοχή.

This part of the E4 trail connects the core of Rouvas Wood to the east outskirts of Psiloritis mount and gives its position to the next trail crossing the fertile valleys of Heraklion prefecture. It is quite tiring, as it ascends from altitude 950m to 1779m and then descends to 490m. The route offers a great experience of the oak wooded forest of Rouvas, the bare peaks of East Priloritis and, if you are lucky, a nice stay in the shelter of Prinos.

At the village Evengelismos, also known as Muhtari, we meet the Church of the Annunciation of Virgin Mary, after which the village takes its name (Evangelismos means Annunciation). An inscription from ancient Lyktos is embedded in the outer wall of the temple, while the interior bears a few but excellent frescoes of the 14th century.
