In Vlatos village, district of Kissamos, we meet one of the many huge plane trees of Crete. This specific legendary plane tree has been declared a nature monument by the Greek State.

The monastery of Christ the Savior of Halepa is built on a high hill near the villages Tsahiana and Veni, 46km east of Rethymno. The views to the valley of Mylopotamos from there are panoramic. While before 2000 the monastery was a set of ruins, today the restored monastery operates normally and is one of the most beautiful monasteries in Crete.
Στη θέση Μελιανά στον Αμιρά Βιάννου συναντάμε ένα από δεκάδες μνημεία της Γερμανικής θηριωδίας που γνώρισε η Κρήτη κατά τον Β’ Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο, που μνημονεύει μία από τις πλέον βιαιότερες σφαγές της Κατοχής στην Ελλάδα. Κάθε χρόνο στο μνημείο τελείται μνημόσυνο για τα θύματα της σφαγής
Ο Ιδομενέας ήταν βασιλιάς της Κρήτης που μαζί με το φίλο του και συγγενή του Μηριόνη πήρε μέρος στον Τρωικό Πόλεμο, οδηγώντας πάνω από 80 πλοία με Κρητικούς πολεμιστές από την Κνωσό, τη Γόρτυνα, τη Λύκτο, τη Μίλητο, το Ρύτιο, τη Λύκαστο και τη Φαιστό. Μετά από 10 χρόνια γύρισε στο νησί και βασίλεψε πάλι.
Ο σπηλαιώδης ναός της Αγίας Δύναμης βρίσκεται στην Αργυρούπολη. Μέσα σε αυτόν υπάρχει η τεράστια πηγή της Άγιας Δύναμης από όπου υδρεύεται σχεδόν όλο το Ρέθυμνο. Εντός του ναού υπήρχε ένα εντυπωσιακό ψηφιδωτό του Χριστού, το οποίο έχει αντικατασταθεί με μία απλή εικόνα και έχει μεταφερθεί στο μουσείο του Ρεθύμνου.
There are several small and rocky bays in the area of Anogia at province Mirabelo. This area is also accessible by car though a wild landscape. One of these beaches is Vlychada Tzavlidon, which has large pebbles. There are impressive layers of conglomerate rocks on the walls of the beach, while on the west end there is a small arch at the base of which there is little spring with fresh water.
After leaving the sheltered beach of Amoudi behind you and taking the road leading to Elounda, you will soon meet one bay 1km north of the center of Agios Nikolaos, next to Hotel Minos Palace. It is a small pebbly and sandy cove, called Katholiko shaped in a very well protected narrow bay, which is mainly used as a harbor for boats (and thus is not organized).
