Ancient Lyktos or Littos is located near the settlement of Xidas. The city was one of the strongest of ancient Crete, an eternal enemy of Knossos and owned the port of Hersonissos. It is reported by all the major ancient historians.

Το ορειβατικό καταφύγιο του στη θέση Σαμάρι βρίσκεται σε υψόμετρο 1417 μέτρων στη δυτική πλαγιά του φαραγγιού του Αγίου Νικολάου. Είναι ένα μονόχωρο πέτρινο κτίσμα με ξύλινο οντά με δυνατότητα διανυκτέρευσης 20 περίπου ορειβατών. Διαθέτει 2 W.C. τζάκι και υπάρχει η δυνατότητα για μαγείρεμα. Υπάρχει παροχή νερού από ομβροδεξαμενή το οποίο δεν είναι πόσιμο.
Vrontissi monastery is located 49km southwest of Heraklion, near Vorizia Gorge, between the villages of Zaros and Vorizia. The area has panoramic views of Vorizia village and the plain of Messara. The monastery is dedicated to Saint Anthony and is one of the oldest monasteries in Crete.
Embrosneros hosted the chateau of one of the most terrible janissaries in Crete, the Turk Ibrahim Alidakis. Alidakis owned a vast property, which he had stolen from the Greeks, and became the greatest aga of the area. In the nearby plateau of Vothonas, Alidakis raised his horses.
Psalidia means scissors in Greek and this name is taken after the shape of the bay. The surrounding area is very dry and is cover by low sand dunes and shrubs, but in September it turns to a paradise by thousands of white sand lilies. Moreover, if you walk to Lagada, you’ll meet many amazing rocks that are ideal for shooting photos.
Livadia coves are located near the village of Livadia, 72km southwest of Chania and 31km south of Kissamos. The coves are not popular to the visitors of the area, because they seem very rocky, as most beaches in west crete. They are mainly prefered by the residents and visitors of Livadia village and those who want to stay remote.
The private museum belongs to Georgios Hatzidakis who met the suffering of the German Occupation.After the war he started with a passion to collect every vestige of the battle to succeed as characteristically telling himself to keep alive the glorious memory of our ancestors and to stimulate younger to deal with their history.
