Fylakas is a tiny beach at the base of the western side of Cape Fylakas of Tripiti in the Asterousia Mountains about 73 kilometers south of Heraklion and on the eastern border of the community of Miamou

Η παραλία της Κρυγιάς Βλυχάδας βρίσκεται στα ανατολικά των Τριών Εκκλησιών στα Αστερούσια Όρη. Το όνομά της το παίρνει από την πηγή με γλυφό νερό που υπάρχει εκεί που τερματίζει ο δρόμος και δίνει ζωή σήμερα σε δεκάδες πικροδάφνες.

The waters of the entire area, and not only of Vyzaroplaka, are among the cleanest and clearest in Crete. The beach is protected from the summer meltemi and the westerly winds and almost never has waves.

In front of the settlement Agios Ioannis, west of Pontd, there is the small, sheltered beach of Ai Giannis. If you are looking for more seclusion, you can go to the beautiful beach of Elygia, to the east of the peninsula.

Those who want to come to Kolokytha but want to be isolated can walk south, where there are two small bays of Vagi.

The beach Krygia Vlychada is located to the east of the village Tris Ekklisies in the Asterousia Mountains. The name means Cold Water Spring and is taken after the spring with sweet water that exists where the road ends and today gives life to dozens of oleanders.

The wider area is full of salt pans, where you will see the famous salt pans of Asterousia filling hollows with seawater evaporated by the sun.
