Between the villages of Ano Varsamonero, Kaloniktis, Ano Malaki and Kato Malaki, at an area full of oaks and ancient olive trees, still stands the ruined Venetian Mansion of Syngelos. Apparently this building was used for controlling and overlooking the region by its owner during the Venetian period or later.

An excellent example of the late Neoclassicism is the building known as «Mavraki House», property of the «Alpha Bank». It was probably erected in the second decade of the 20th century in the neighbourhood Retzep Agha no. 167 street, which a little later was called Sfakion street. The first owner Zaharias Ieronymakis bequested it in 1921 to his son Heraklis Ieronymakis who sold it to Emmanouil Pantelakis.

Τεχνικό φαράγγι στην περιοχή της Ζούρβας που καταλήγει στον κεντρικό δρόμο της περιοχής (υψόμετρο 600 μέτρα), όπου και σχηματίζει καταρράκτη. Ξεκινάει από το μικρό οροπέδιο Βούλισμα (υψόμετρο 940 μέτρα) κι έχει 14 καταβάσεις, η μεγαλύτερη των οποίων 48 μέτρα.

On the hill above the village Lefkochori (Voutoufou) at Heraklion we meet the wood of Lefkochori. it covers an area of 72 acres and is a green oasis in the center of Heraklion prefecture. The artificial wood mainly consists of pines and cypress trees. The place can be reached through the road that starts from the village.

North of the village Kounavi we meet the church of St. John the Baptist. The church bears frescoes of the 14th century.

Στο κοιμητήριο του χωριού Καψοδάσος Σφακίων, στην έξοδο του επιβλητικού φαραγγιού του Καλλικράτη, είναι κτισμένος ο λιτός μονόχωρος ναός του Αγίου Αθανασίου. Παρόλο που το εξωτερικό του θυμίζει νεότερο ναό, το κτίριο χρονολογείται στον 14ο αιώνα και στο εσωτερικό του φέρει πολύ παλιές τοιχογραφίες.
