Daedalus was a resourceful and very talented Athenian artist and inventor. Many people believe that he was a real person that was later mythified. The name Daedalus derives from the greek verb "daedalo" which means "work with skill”. He is told to have discovered several well-known tools such as saw, ax, plumb line, drill, masts and figure heads of ships and pottery wheel.

Skaleta beachfront starts 11km east of Rethymno and stretches 3km to the east. It is the last part of the vast beach of the Gulf of Rethymno. The first beach after Pighianos Kampos is Sfakaki, a very well organised resort.

Chora Sfakíon or Sfakia is a small town on the south coast of Chania. It is the capital of the remote and mountainous region of Sfakia, and is a small town of just 278 inhabitants (2001 census). It lies on the south coast near the end of the Imbros Gorge, 74km south of Chania.

Greece is a Eurozone member, therefore the unit of currency is the Euro (EURΟ €). All major credit cards can be used in Crete, with Visa and MasterCard accepted most widely. There is no restriction on the amount of foreign currency that can be brought in or taken out of Crete. However, every person who carries more than €10,000 in cash in or out of Greece must declare it to the customs authorities.

Η Σπηλιά του Μελιδονίου βρίσκεται περίπου 1.800μ. βορειοδυτικά του ομώνυμου χωριού του ορεινού Μυλοπόταμου, σε υψόμετρο 220μ. στη νότια πλευρά του όρους Κουλούκωνα. Ο Γεροντόσπηλιος, όπως λέγεται κι αλλιώς, παρουσιάζει ενδιαφέρον εξαιτίας των αρχαιολογικών του ευρημάτων. Επίσης, το σπήλαιο έχει διαδραματίσει ένα τραγικό ρόλο στην ιστορία της επάναστασης των Κρητών κατά των Οθωμανών.

Ο Ληστής βρίσκεται 69 χλμ νοτιοανατολικά του Ηρακλείου, ανάμεσα στο Καστρί (1,5 χλμ δυτικότερα) και στο Τσούτσουρα. Δίπλα από την παραλία περνάει ο δρόμος που συνδέει το Καστρί (όπου και ανήκει) με τον Τσούτσουρα. Ωστόσο, για να φτάσετε στην παραλία θα πρέπει να κατεβείτε μια απότομη πλαγιά. Εναλλακτικά, μπορείτε να κατεβείτε στα διπλανά Καμπουλά και να περπατήσετε ανατολικά.

Myrtos is located 13km west of Ierapetra, in the output of a wide valley filled with greenhouses and citrus groves, crossed by the River Kryos. It is a small seaside village, which has experienced a mild form of development in recent years, which fortunately has not altered its traditional style. The village is built on the exit of the imposing Sarakina Gorge, which is worth visiting.
