Karfi (i.e. nail) is a big rocky hill on a top of the Diktaean Mountains, with incredible views to the north coasts of Crete and Lassithi Plateau, near the Monastery of Kera Kardiotissa. Atop of it, at an altitude of 1200m, traces of a Minoan peak sanctuary have been found.
Η παραλία παίρνει το όνομα της από το μικρό, πολύ παλιό Μοναστήρι του Αγίου Παύλου, γνωστό για τις τοιχογραφίες που είναι γεμάτες χαράγματα πειρατών, σφουγγαράδων και Βενετών. Είναι απομονωμένη, έχει πεντακάθαρα βότσαλα και βαθειά δροσερά νερά.
Το καταφύγιο της Ταύρης βρίσκεται σε υψόμετρο 1200m στο οροπέδιο της Ταύρης κοντά στο Ασκύφου. Η πρόσβαση γίνεται με 1:30 ώρα πεζοπορία σε κυπαρισσόδασος από το χωριό Αμμουδάρι, ενώ φτάνει και χωματόδρομος 7.5km. Από το καταφύγιο αυτό μπορεί να περπατήσει κάποιος στη Κορφή Κάστρο, να διασχίσει το Σφακιανό Φαράγγι ή το Φαράγγι της Καβής.

The fortress of Apicorno has been one of the most important forts of the Gulf of Souda. The Castel Apicorno or Bicorna gave its name to the province of Apokoronas, called like this even today, although the fort is destroyed.

The canyon of Zoniana is located south of Zoniana village. Starting at an altitude of 950m, it ends at the village at an altitude of 650m. Through the gorge runs the "serpentine" Oaxis river that has water till spring. The gorge is easily accessible and safe for hiking, as its slope is small.

Agios Nikitas is located 65km south of Heraklion, on the east side of the wild and arid Asterousia Mountains. The monastery was originally a hermitage for monks from the monastery of Koudoumas. It is built on a high hill with breathtaking views to the Libyan Sea. The church of the monastery, dedicated to St. Nikitas (feast September 15), is built in a cave and dates back in 1640.
