The Minoan mansion of Sklavokambos was discovered in 1930, while constructing the main road to Anogia and part of it was destroyed by the works. It is a multiple-story building with a main room where a clay ox head was found, along with a Late Minoan IB period style jug and a stone rhyton. The building had at least 17 rooms.
Δίπλα στην παραλία στο Φαφλάγκο πολύ παλιά υπήρχε η Μονή του Αγίου Προκοπίου, η οποία καταστράφηκε από τους Άραβες. Έτσι, οι μοναχοί αποφάσισαν να απομακρυνθούν από την παραλία και να χτίσουν το 855 μια μονή αφιερωμένη στην Παναγία, σε ένα σημείο πολύ καλά κρυμμένο και μη ορατό από τη θάλασσα. Ο ναός της μονής στέκεται ακόμη στο σημείο, στην έξοδο του φαραγγιού Ξεροφάραγγο κοντά στο χωριό Καλάμι.

Η Μονή της Παναγίας των Θαυμάτων (Santa Maria dei Miracoli) κτίστηκε από τη Marussa Mengano το 1615 για τις Δομηνικανές μοναχές των Χανίων. Τη Μονή περιγράφει το 1620 ο Προβλεπτής G. Perpigano, λέγοντας πως "έχει άνετα κελιά προς τα νότια του καθολικού".
