The Gorge of Therisso (named also Eleftherios Venizelos) is located near the city of Chania. You can go there by car. The main gorge is six kilometers long. The vertical cliffs are impressive and the lush vegetation has nothing to envy of the other Chania Gorges. The place deserves a visit, even with a vehicle, cobined with a visit in the historical beautiful village of Therisso.

1km south of the village Agios Ioannis lies the Long Beach of St. John that has a length of 5km, being one of the longest in Crete. This wide quiet beach the characteristic wonderful coarse grayish sand of southern Crete, which in the sea turns to fine sand. This is an interesting detail, because although you walk on the fine sand in the sea, when you get out your feet is clean because you step on the fine pebbles.

Ο Κόκκινος Πύργος βρίσκεται 67 χλμ νοτιοδυτικά του Ηρακλείου και πολύ κοντά στην πόλη του Τυμπακίου. Η ονομασία του οφείλεται στον πύργο που υπήρχε εκεί και ήταν χτισμένος με κοκκινόχωμα γι’ αυτό και τον έλεγαν κόκκινο. Ο σκοπός της ύπαρξης του πύργου σ’ αυτό το σημείο είναι άγνωστος.

Η τεχνητή λίμνη της Αγιάς βρίσκεται δίπλα στο ομώνυμο χωριό, 9 χλμ δυτικά των Χανίων. Είναι μια μικρή λίμνη έκτασης 450 στρεμμάτων, η οποία επικοινωνεί νότια με την κοιλάδα του Φασά. Η κοιλάδα αυτή θεωρείται ως η πιο υγρή της Κρήτης. Η λίμνη δέχεται νερό από υπόγειες πηγές και από τον ποταμό Ξεκωλωμένο.

Η Αμμουδάρα είναι μια τεράστια παραλία που ξεκινάει 1 χλμ δυτικά από το κέντρο του Ηρακλείου και φτάνει ως τις εκβολές του Αλμυρού ποταμού, 7 χλμ δυτικότερα. Αποτελεί πλέον ένα προάστιο του Ηρακλείου, το οποίο έχει αναπτυχθεί τουριστικά κυρίως λόγω της τεράστιας παραλίας.

Ammoudi is located just 1km north of Agios Nikolaos city centre, in a large and well protected bay. It is a small sandy beach with shallow waters, which is preferred both by locals and visitors. It is hidden among large tamarisk trees and picturesque buildings, offering many options for accommodation and eating around. The beach has also water sport facilities.

The Cave of Melidoni is located approximately 1,800 meters northwest of the homonym village of Mylopotamos. Gerontospilios, as also called, is very important due to the archaeological findings, some of which are exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Rethymnon. Moreover, the cave has played a tragic role in the history of Cretan revolution against the Turks, in 1824.

Η Γεωργιούπολη είναι ένα τουριστικό θέρετρο που βρίσκεται 38 χλμ ανατολικά των Χανίων και 21 χλμ δυτικά του Ρεθύμνου. Είναι μια μικρή παραθαλάσσια κωμόπολη, χτισμένη μέσα σε μια καταπράσινη πεδιάδα, γεμάτη ποτάμια και πηγές. Βρίσκεται στο δυτικό άκρο μιας τεράστιας παραλίας μήκους 10 χλμ.
