Ο πύργος του Καβάλου βρίσκεται σε μια υπερυψωμένη θέση ανατολικά από το Λαράνι και προφανώς ανήκε σε άρχοντα της περιοχής που ήθελε να ελέγχει την περιουσία του.

Just a few meters away from the last houses of the village Samonas, road works revealed a small cave in 1994, with rich décor and a small pond. In order to access the main room a ladder is used.

Στο ναό αυτόν εκκλησιάζονταν όλοι οι Χριστιανοί μετά την κατάληψη της Κρήτης από τους Οθωμανούς, καθώς οι Οθωμανοί μετέτρεψαν την Αγία Αικατερίνη σε Τζαμί. Έτσι οι Σιναΐτες μοναχοί μετέφεραν το μοναστήρι στον Άγιο Ματθαίο.

Κάτω ακριβώς από το περίφημο Καμαραϊκό σπήλαιο και πάνω από το χωριό Καμάρες Ηρακλείου απλώνεται ένα αρκετά μεγάλο δάσος. Το Καμαραϊκό δάσος καλύπτει όλη την περιοχή στη νότια πλευρά της Μαύρης κορυφής και φτάνει μέχρι το υψόμετρο των 1600-1700μ.. Η εξάπλωσή του φτάνει σχεδόν μέχρι την περιοχή Κουτσουνάρες που ξεκινά το Βοριζανό φαράγγι και συνεχίζει και πάνω από τα Βορίζια.

Castle Kazarma (Casa di Arma) is built on a hill near the port of Sitia, reminding of the old times that it protected the town. The fort is the only surviving part of the old town walls, which were destroyed by the Venetians.

The beach that stands out from all of the west side of Gavdos is Diana. Diana is actually the second southernmost beach in Europe, after Tripiti which is located a few meters to the southeast. The beach stands out from the rest as it is less rocky, has small pebbles and has a massive rock below which you can find shade all day.

The forest village of Agios Ioannis at Sfakia province is the starting point of one of the most beautiful and best marked trails of Chania prefecture, the trail of Kormokopos. The word Kormokopos means place where trees are cut, due to the dense forest of the area.
