Just a few meters to the west of Tsoutsouros, the very narrow and smaller gorge of Troulla is formed. Being shorter than the Tsoutsouros canyon, it has attracted the attention of the canyoners and is very impressive with more than 15 beautiful waterfalls along its bed, the largest being 15m high.
Above the village Vainia of Ierapetra you will meet the top of Stavros (Cross) with the white chapel of the Holy Cross in panoramic point that controls the entire isthmus of Ierapetra. Just a few meters away from the chapel at position Pirgos (i.e. tower) there is an unknown and forgotten Venetian tower. Its square shape surrounds a semicircular prominence, like as artistic edging.

Η νησίδα Λαζαρέτα (Lazaretta) ή Λαζαρέτο βρίσκεται απέναντι από τη Νέα Χώρα και κατά τον 17ο αιώνα οι Ενετοί τη χρησιμοποίησαν ως λοιμοκαθαρτήριο των Χανίων, όπως ακριβώς γινόταν στα περισσότερα νησάκια απέναντι από πόλεις. Το όνομα της το παίρνει από τον Λάζαρο, τον προστάτη των λεπρών (στην Καθολική Εκκλησία).
At Mohos operates a folklore museum, in which everyday objects of old times are exhibited. The museum is housed in a beautiful stone building managed by the Cultural Association of Mohos.
Ο Μινωικός οικισμός του Πετρά ήταν κτισμένος σε χαμηλό λόφο κοντά στη σημερινή Σητεία. Πιστεύεται από πολλούς ότι εδώ ήταν η αρχαία Ητεία ή Ήτιδα, από όπου καταγόταν ο Μύσωνας, σπουδαίος σοφός της αρχαιότητας.

The leatherback turtle (scient. Dermochelys coriacea) is the largest reptile in the world, with its shell growing up to 250cm and its weight, sometimes, exceeding 900kg. Infrequent appearances of the species have been reported in Greece (and in Crete), while there has not been reported any case of breeding on Greek beaches.
