Το πολύ παλιό μοναστήρι του Αγίου Γεωργίου κτίστηκε τον 9ο αιώνα αλλά εγκαταλείφθηκε μετά από τις συνεχείς επιδρομές των πειρατών. Στην ανατολική πλευρά υπήρχε πύργος που διατηρήθηκε κατά την εποχή της Ενετοκρατίας. Αυτό προκύπτει από ένα χάραγμα, πάνω σε ρωμαϊκή επιγραφή με χρονολογία 1596.
The church of St. Peter near Vrachasi was the temple of a small monastery that operated here in the 17th century, on the site of a preexisting temple of the 14th century. We can discern traces of walls and a water mill (the area had a lot of water so it is very green).

Atherina beach is located about 70 km southeast of Agios Nikolaos and 34 km east of Ierapetra, shortly before we reach the seaside village of Goudouras. To approach it from the shore, from the main road walk along the narrow and deep dry stream, which drains the Vigla region.
The Gate of the Sand (Sabionara) is located on the northwest side of the bastion Sabionara. It connected the city with the sandy beach east of the port.

At the village Apodoulou, in Amari Province, there is a very well preserved building, that locals call Frankish Konak. This mansion was built by Lord John Hane, after 1829.
The church of Agio Pnevma (the Holy Spirit) is a two-aisled basilica in the northwest corner of the plateau. With the addition of the second aisle, it now looks like a three-aisled church facing north, with the middle aisle higher than the others. The oldest aisle is dedicated to the Transfiguration and dates from the Venetian period.
