Η Λασαία ήταν ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα λιμάνια της Γόρτυνας, της μεγαλύτερης πόλης της Ρωμαϊκής Κρήτης. Μάλιστα, η πόλη αναφέρεται στις πράξεις του Αγίου Παύλου, ο οποίος επισκέφτηκε την περιοχή κατά το ταξίδι του στη Ρώμη. Η Λασαία ήταν πλούσια σε κοιτάσματα χαλκού, τα οποία και αποτέλεσαν αντικείμενο εμπορίου.

The Monastery of St. Anastasia the Roman, the first in Greece monastery dedicated to Her, was founded in 2008 and started its operation in July 2009. Apart from the main church of St. Anastasia, there is the chapel of St. Kosmas the Aetolian.

Η Έλυρος αποτέλεσε τη σημαντικότερη πόλη της νοτιοδυτικής Κρήτης κατά τη Δωρική και Ελληνορωμαϊκή Περίοδο. Ερείπια της σώζονται 500m από το σημερινό χωριό Ροδοβάνι, στο ύψωμα Κεφάλα με την πανοραμική θέα στη θάλασσα. Λιμάνια της πόλης ήταν η σημερινή Σούγια και η κοντινή Λισσός.

The exit of Tripiiti Gorge hosted the ancient town Poikilasos or Poikilasion, but today you will see only a few scattered traces.

You can visit them the whole year and hug with the donkeys or even take a ride on the small ones. If you would like to visit Crete and do some charity work this is a perfect chance.

Pantokrator Gate, better known as Chanioporta, was the principal western exit of Venetian Candia. Its unusual interior contains two separate vaulted passages: a main route connecting the city with western Crete and a military passage leading to the southern lower square of the bastion of the same name.

Το Φαράγγι των Χελιδονιών βρίσκεται 33km νότια της πόλης του Ρεθύμνου, πολύ κοντά στην διάσημη παραλία της Πρέβελης με το μαγευτικό φοινικόδασος και το ποτάμι. Ξεκινάει κοντά στο χωριό Δρύμισκος, διέρχεται σχεδόν παράλληλα με το Κουρταλιώτικο φαράγγι (της Πρέβελης) και καταλήγει στην παραλία του Δρυμισκιανού Αμμουδίου.

The Monumental Olive Tree of Paliama is situated at Trypiti, near the abandoned settlement of Paliama in the Messara region. It has been declared monumental by the Association of Cretan Olive Municipalities because of its enormous size and the distinctive sculptural form of its trunk. Its age is estimated at approximately 3,000 years.
