Το Κρητικό κυκλάμινο (επιστ. Cyclamen creticum) ανήκει στην οικογένεια των πριμουλιδών. Σε πολλά μέρη της Ελλάδας τα κυκλάμινα λέγονται και Χοιρόψωμο, επειδή τις ρίζες του τις τρώνε τα γουρούνια. Φυτρώνουν κατά τα μέσα του φθινοπώρου, ανάμεσα σε σχισμές βράχων ή σε χαλάσματα.
On the west coast of Koufonissi, in the area where we meet the characteristic white clay of the island, the beautiful beach of Akritamos is formed.
At Gerokambos (Sacred Place) west of Lendas in 1959 three vaulted tombs were found, with the largest (diameter 5.10m) looted and empty. In front of the entrance, a hall was full of people and animal bones, charcoal and cups. In a second tomb figurines, daggers, vases, seals and beads were found.
Very few villages in Crete are fortunate to have a waterfall in their space. One of these is Kato Kastelliana south of Heraklion on the foot of Asterousia Range. At the south entrance of Kato Kastelliana we meet Richtra, a beautiful waterfall that is the pride of the place. Richtra that the idiom of Asterousia means waterfall and it is an impressive 8-9m high waterfall with almost triangular shape.
Το μουσείο αγροτικής ιστορίας και λαϊκής τέχνης στεγάζεται στον παραδοσιακό οικισμό Αρόλιθος από το 1999. Η συλλογή περιλαμβάνει αντικείμενα ιστορικού, λαογραφικού και εκκλησιαστικού χαρακτήρα.
Νοτιοδυτικά από το Ρωμαϊκό θέατρο της Λεύκης, σχηματίζονται οι δύο πανέμορφες παραλίτσες του Παπαλούκα, ο Άνω Παπαλούκας και ο Κάτω Παπαλούκας.
Στο κέντρο του οροπεδίου του Λιμνάκαρου συναντάμε τον ναό του Αγίου Πνεύματος που όταν γιορτάζει συγκεντρώνει πλήθος κόσμου. Στη σημερινή του μορφή ο ναός είναι δίκλιτος αλλά τα δυο κλίτη του χτίστηκαν σε διαφορετικές περιόδους της ιστορίας. Αρχικά ο ναός ήταν σταυρεπίστεγος και τιμότανε στην Μεταμόρφωση του Σωτήρος.
The Church of the Zoodohos Pigi (Life Giving Fountain) at position Drakonero functioned as a monastery during the Venetian period. It is the largest cruciform church with a dome of Crete (of that era). Inside the church there is one of the nicest arcosolium (Venetian tomb) of the 16th century with coat of arms of Tzangarolo family. A part of the frescoes still survives (Peter and Paul, Our Lady enthroned etc).
