The village Kerames is located 49km south of Rethymno, close to the village Agalianos. South of the village are many beautiful beaches, with the most famous being the beaches of Akoumiani Gialia, namely Ligres, Triopetra and Agios Pavlos sandhills. The beachfront north of Akoumiani Gialia is called Keramiani Gialia, meaning Keramean Beach, named after the nearby village.

The poor asphalt road that leads to Keramiani Gialia stops near the local harbor of Agia Fotini, also known as Agia Fotia. Southeast of Agia Fotini, you will find the main beaches of Keramiani Gialia. There is a dirt track (in good condition) that heads there from Agia Fotini. The first beach is called Podare. Podare has coarse sand and rocks in some places, making it ideal for fishing and snorkeling. This magnificent beach is not organized, although there are some rooms to rent on the beach.

Continuing driving in the easy dirt road that heads to the east after Podare, you will head beyond the big hill. You will reach a parking area, near some rooms for renting, where the road stops. The beach that stretches on your right hand is called Glima and is a sandy secluded beach totally unorganised.

If you walk to the east from there for 100m, you will see a towering sandhill on your left hand. The beach in front of them is called Pahia Ammos, i..e. Coarse Sand and is ideal for absolute seclusion.
