Gra Kera Monastery at Deliana
(2 votes)

The uninhabited Gra Kera monastery by the village Deliana at province Kissamos is dedicated to the Nativity of Virgin Mary (Panagia). The name comes after Iera Kera i.e. Holy Lady. The monastery in 1632 became a dependency of the larger monastery of Gonia Odigitria at Kolimbari as mentioned in a document, so it was already in operation.

The temple is built in the middle of the monastery complex and bears characteristic decor of the Venetian Era. The temple was renovated and redecorated with a new temple in 1953. Around the church we see the monks' cells, an oven, a well and a stable.
