Shelter Thripti

The highest peak of Thripti is Stavromenos (altitude of 1476m) and it hosts the windswept chapel of the Lord Christ (Stavromenos) that celebrates on September 14. Next to the chapel there is a small mountain shelter with a fireplace; the shelter is locked due to vandalism suffered a few years ago and for the key one should ask at the village Thripti.

The views of the surrounding areas is truly amazing and the visual field covers both the north and south coast of Crete, and the whole isthmus of Ierapetra. Stavromenos can be accessed through a seprentine road that starts from village Thripti.
