Hersonissos
Hersonissos is one of the most popular tourist resorts in Crete, located 28km east of Heraklion. Here you will find whatever you desire. During the day you can enjoy nice beaches or water parks, drink your coffee in the seaside road, visit the local archaeological sites, stroll in the villages of Ano Hersonissos, Piskopiano and Koutouloufari, trek in the gorges of Avdou valley or visit the cool Lassithi Plateau. Archanes is located 14km north of the city of Heraklion and is, admittedly, the most beautiful town in central Crete. Surrounded by history, the nymph of Youchtas with its eternal vineyards and olive groves, continue to move with confidence towards the future, wearing its traditional cloak.

Plakias, and Agia Galini, are the two major tourist resorts in southern Rethymnon. Plakias is located in a fertile valley formed at the exit of Kotsifos Gorge, 36km south of Rethymno. Ierapetra is a modern city of 12,500 inhabitants located 30km south of Agios Nikolaos, being the southernmost city in Greece. It is known for its beautiful calm beaches with the small fine grayish pebbles, the castle Kales near the harbor and the thousands greenhouses providing all Europe with vegetables.
Timbaki is located in Messara plain, near the beachfront of the Kokkinos Pirgos. Its residents are mainly engaged in the cultivation of vegetables and olives, but also serve the functional needs of the nearby military airport.
Arkalohori is located in the center of Heraklion Prefecture, in a fertile region with olive groves and vineyards. The village has faced a high development in the last century, while the surrounding area has special archaeological interest.
Kissamos is located on the northwest side of Crete, 36 kilometers from Chania city. Kastelli, as otherwise called, is built on the ruins of the ancient city Kissamos, which justifies the dual naming of the area. Kissamos has a mild touristic development and constitutes an ideal base for excursions to the neighboring beaches, such as Balos, Falassarna and Elafonisi.
Anogia is a small town in Psiloritis and one of the most historical places in Crete, which has been associated with the resistance of its residents against the various invaders of Crete. It is famous for its authentic people and the Greek artists, such as Nikos Xilouris.
Sitia is the easternmost city in Crete, built in a beautiful area where the wild arid landscape gets mixed with the harmonic tranquility of nature and the hospitality of the locals. The historical Sitia hosts the most important port and the only airport in eastern Crete. It is a beloved destination for those who want to discover the unknown beauties of the region.
Elounda is located 10km north of Agios Nikolaos, near the northwest side of the bay of Mirabello. It is famous for its expensive and luxurious hotels that host celebrities from all over the world. Apart from its glamorous character, Elounda has to offer visitors some of the most beautiful landscapes in Crete with Spinalonga, the former leper colony being the most visited sightseeing.
The modern town of Mires is located in the middle of the plain Mesara and is one of the biggest cities in Crete. Having eliminated nearly all its traditional elements, the town is not a popular attraction, but mainly serves as a hub for exploring the Messara Plain.
Spili is located about 30km south of Rethymno, at an altitude of 430m, at the foot of Mount Vorizis, an offshoot of Psiloritis Mt. In the center of the village square you’ll meet a series of 25 fountains with the form of a lion head from the mouths of which 330 cubic meters of water flow every hour, which is the main attraction of the village.
The town of Neapolis is situated between Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos, in a green valley full with olive groves. The old capital of Lassithi prefecture has many attractions to show its visitors, although constant decline after the Second World War. Beautiful buildings, landscaped gardens, wide streets and large squares complete the scenery of Neapolis.
