Moments of rural life
A walk around the streets of the villages of Crete is always a special experience hiding mixed feelings.

Different, depending on their exact location (either plain or mountain), the villages of Crete are the means for conserviing the special and unique traditional Cretan life. A life that in many cases is endangered by the immigration in the cement cities, where the Cretans seek a better life with more amenities.
Perfumes by kneading and baking, colorful gardens, whitewashed streets, stone trails, old churches, large squares with water fountains and trees, children playing carefree, bleating animals... gray images and memories of the abandoned villages in the Cretan countryside. Hundreds of ghost villages in the remote corners of the island, victims of the urbanization of the previous decades, wait patiently for resettlement. A resettlement seems to turn true in many cases, but in a different form, due to the restoration of many old houses that are used as second homes and cottages.
