Cape Lianos is located 19km east of Rethymno, in Lavris area, next to the beach of Geropotamos. It is a rocky Cape, with a luxury hotel built on it.
In front of the hotel there are two small artificial coves, which look private. However, even if you don’t stay in the complex, you have the right to reach the coves via the footpath that starts near the beach of Geropotamos (and heads east).
The first beach
you will see is a very small sandy cove. It has umbrellas and a bar, while the seabed is a bit rocky. One cement pier is built on one side, which protects it against the north winds.
If you walk a few steps further, you will meet the
main beach
of the hotel, which is sandy and well-organized. The beach is hidden inside a cove, surrounded by two artificial quays, which are very close to each other, giving the impression of a lake. Of course, the beach is never wavy and is ideal for children.
The area of Lianos Cape, with the wetland of Geropotamos, is protected under the European program "Natura 2000". It is home to many reptiles, birds, turtles, amphibians, mammals, and plants. Some of them are indigenous or under extinction.
