Lagoufa is located right after the east end of Makrigialos main beach, around 59km southeast of Agios Nikolaos and 24km east of Ierapetra. It consists of two adjacent protected coves, which are formed near the big hotels of Makrigialos.

The first cove is located in front of a hotel and has a nice sandy . The beach has fine gold sand, shallow blue water and is very well organised with umbrellas, bars, showers and water sports, due to the local hotel. This might look as private beach, but access to the beach is permitted to everybody, since there are no private beaches in Greece. You can access the beach by crossing the hotel.

Next to this cove, on the east, there is a second nice , that is less crowded than the former. This is perfect for someone looking for a secluded beach, near the busy Makrigialos centre. The beach has fine sand and shallow waters. In order to reach the second one from Makrigialos, you have to get the first right turn after the hotel, heading to the beach.
