Petrigiari beach, Kakoperatos gorge, Heraklion, CretePetrigiari (or Skiadaki) is a very small amazing beach formed at the exit of the narrow canyon Kakoperatos, which is located 10km south of Ahendrias village, on the eastern side of Asterousia Mountains. The distance from Heraklion is approximately 66km.

The beach, which is in one of the most isolated areas of the island, has beautiful pebbles and is surrounded by tall vertical cliffs. The beach is mainly accessed by boat, but you could also trek from Agios Nikitas. The surrounding area is ideal for fishing. Moreover, if you come by boat, do not forget to walk in the gorge and admire the rugged landscape.

The name Skiadaki means “Small Shade”, taken after the shade provided by the tall cliffs of the gorge. Indeed, if you come here you don’t need an umbrella and you will find shade throughout the day.
