Ammoudi beach (Bourouni of Rogdia)

(3 votes, average 4.33 out of 5)

Ammoudi is located 19km northwest of Heraklion, between the Capes Katarameno (on the west) and Bourouni of Rogdia (on the east) and north of the homonymous settlement of the area.

Ammoudi is an untouched beautiful beach with pebbles and deep blue waters. It is surrounded by towering cliffs and on the east side there are some beautiful caves. The steep cliffs make Amoudi one of the most isolated beaches of Heraklion. There is no access by car, although you can still see the remains of the road that leaded to the beach until 1995. The road has been completely destroyed by floods and now there is not even a footpath.

The only drawback is that the beach is open to the north winds, which carry some rubbish to the coast. But when the sea is calm, Ammoudi is ideal for isolation, if you have a boat of course.
