Marathi beach
Marathi is located 17km east of Chania and 5km east of the military base in Souda, on the southeastern Shores of Akrotiri Cape. It is a popular resort of Chania, which attracts many visitors every summer.
In Marathi, there are two beautiful beaches with fine sand and shallow calm waters, ideal for children. They are well protected from winds blowing in the area, since they face south. The beaches are separated by a small port and overlook the White Mountains. They are well-organized and have all necessary amenities close by.
1km opposite Marathi, there is a small rocky islet, which can be reached by swimming or pedaling.
Marathi is located on the site of the ancient city Minoa, which was probably a port city of Aptera town. Nearby, there is also an archaeological site, known as the Little Palace of Minos.
