Likos & Finikas beaches
Likkos and Finikas (or Phoenix) are two adjacent small harbors near Loutro of Sfakia, located 83km south of Chania. The beaches are hidden in two coves, 900m and 700m west of Loutro, respectively. The E4 European path crosses the area.
Likos beach is rocky, while Finikas beach has coarse pebbles and some rocks. It is ideal for very quiet holidays, but avoid it if you want some noise. The rough coastline is a refuge for the monk seals of Crete. You can reach both harbors from Livaniana (on the way to Anopolis) in Sfakia by car, but the dirt road from there is in very poor condition. The easiest way to reach both beaches is by boat from Chora Sfakion, Sougia, Gavdos island, Paleochora or Agia Roumeli to Loutro and then walk the short distance from there. There are some tavernas and rooms to let in both harbors, with Loutro being very close.
You can stay in Finikas, Likkos and Loutro and use them as a base for exploring the surrounding nature. The Aradaina Gorge is 60 minutes walking to the west. The area is also ideal for snorkeling and fishing.
