Karave beach (Gavdos)
Gavdos is located 21 nautical miles south of Sfakia and is one of the last unspoilt havens of Europe, with beautiful beaches and shocking wild landscapes. Karave is the harbor of Gavdos (it’s just one dock), located on its east shore.
Karave is located next to a small beach with round pebbles. It is not organized, but is the only choice for those who want to swim near the port. The water is crystal clear and deep. Karave is not very special about swimming, especially if you compare with the other magical beaches of Gavdos.
Adjacent to the beach are only a few houses, a cafe, a tavern and a few rooms. There is a bus running from Karave to the dorps and the beaches of the island.
Pottery from the late Neolithic period, which belonged to a tomb, has been found south of Karave. The tomb has not been found and is believed to have been destroyed.
