Kalogeros beach

(7 votes, average 4.14 out of 5)

Kalogeros is a perfect beach with deep blue water and fine pebbles, located 57km south of Chania, 11km east of Sougia and 1km west of Agia Roumeli. The beach is located close to the west end of Agia Roumeli.

The landscape is idyllic and Kalogeros is prefered by nudists, since it is absolutely secluded. There are some pine trees around and a small cave, under which you can find shade and camp. There are no amenities closeby and  the only access is by boat or by swimming from Agia Roumeli (1hr)

Kalogeros is a perfect choice for staying remote, as all surrounding beach. Between Kalogeros and Agia Roumeli, small beaches are shaped sourrounded by huge cliffs, called Spilies sto Marmaro (i..e "Caves in Marble").

The name Kalogeros comes from the greek word καλόγερος (spelled Kaloyeros) which means monk. The beach is named after a huge vertical rock that reminds of a monk, which is located in the sea.
